Belt Levels

Our classroom participates in the Independent Reading Challenge. You are given time in reading class and throughout the day to read books of your own choosing. For every 50 pages you read, you write a 3-4 sentence PickPullPonder. You earn reading belts (like "belts" in Karate) for the number of pages you read. Students that earn at least one belt a week get to eat lunch with Mrs. Sponaugle on Wednesdays! You can work on the Independent Reading Challenge at home by downloading a reading log and the front and back of your yellow card!

  • White - 100 pages

  • Orange - 200 pages

  • Gold - 350 pages

  • Green - 550 pages

  • Blue - 800 pages

  • Purple - 1100 pages

  • Brown - 1450 pages

  • Red - 1850 pages

  • Red with Black - 2300 pages

  • Black - 2800 pages

 

Our Accelerated Reading theme this year is LIGHTS, CAMERA, READING!

Who will be a red carpet reader this year? In addition to our classroom goal, students will earn rewards for every 5 AR quizzes passed. We will also be critiquing the books we read for AR this year. Stay tuned for more information on our star-studded project!
